Tay and Adam do London- Feb 26th 2008

It’s been a little wild since our last post. February has come and gone faster than Flash Gordon! Yes that was bad, but give us some time…….. we’re a little rusty. Valentines Day brought the arrival of Mom and Adam, and a whirlwind of travel and sightseeing. We immediately whisked away to Paris, a first for everyone! It’s an amazing city, if not crazy cold in the middle of February. Tay couldn’t get enough of the café au laits, Adam struggled to communicate with the French, Peter quietly soaked it all in, and Sam had some serious battles with her fear of heights. Seriously, could there be any more monuments boasting beautiful city views??? They never tell you it always involves a tiny spiral staircase and a crazy case of the dizzies. We all had favorite moments, but I must say, the sun peeking out while we lounged in the Tuileries Gardens was pretty amazing.

Next was Oxford and some much needed lounging around. Thankfully all of Oxford can be seen in a day, so we wisely spread it out through the next 4 days. We explored and found some new little secrets, including a rockin’ pub hiding down a back alley. It’s not as dodgy as it sounds, just well hidden from tourists. Additionally, it’s sometimes just nice to sit around and relax with family, like we would back at home. It’s a bit more crowded in our flat here in Oxford but still nice to hang out and play cards although some fights did erupt. Sam is once again sorry for punching you mom, but that last trick was mine and you know it.

Finally we ended up back in London for a day or two before Tay and Adam flew home. When we went to St. Paul’s Cathedral which boasted yet another fabulous city view, Sam had to sit one out on the ground floor of the cathedral while Tay, Adam and I wound our way to the top of the dome. Awesome views; it had been about nine years or so since I had visited St. Paul’s but the view still rocks.

All in all everyone had a great trip. It’s not everyday that you get to see Paris and London in a week and a half stretch. Tay and Adam slipped out of our hotel room in London at about 7am to go catch their flight so Sam and I were too groggy to get really sad at their leaving! But they’re missed. Thanks for coming out here guys!

FYI: This was written by both of us at varying times, so bear with the random flip flopping of first and third person. We’re just trying to keep you on your toes like twirly ballerinas.
